Science

Science lessons are planned with a strong emphasis on investigative learning. This often occurs with pupils working collaboratively during practical activities, discussing and reasoning their ideas and work and drawing conclusions from and evaluating the results. The long term plans are based on the New Primary Curriculum 2014. Please follow the link below if you wish to view the New Science Curriculum for 2014:

STEM and Enterprise Week

On the week commencing 16th April 2018 the whole school took part in a week focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths and Enterprise. We enjoyed a number of activities and visitors throughout the week and on Science Day we had a visit from Mad Science. Many children (and staff) also dressed up as mad scientists.  Throughout the day each class completed a fun (mad) science experiment in their own classes. At the end of the day parents join us for a whole school water bottle tornado race. We all had a fantastic day!

ECO/ Gardening Club

Our afterschool ECO and Gardening Club are doing a fantastic job of improving our school garden. The children are learning more about the enviroment and the plants and animal that live in it.

Space Week

To promote and encourage the pupil’s enjoyment in science, our school has taken part in World Space Week from 4th October to 10th October. For World Space Week we invited the children to take part in a national competition to design a new character and spaceship for Q Pootle 5. The winner of the competition will get a visit from Q Pootle 5, we are hoping an entry from our school will win.
