Our Learning – Spring Term 2019

 

Religious Education: 

We will be learning about Baptism, People who Help Us and Lent.

 

Personal, Social and Emotional Development: 

We will be learning to work as part of a group, ask questions and explain our knowledge and understanding to our friends and teachers, talk about our needs and interests confidently, understand how to behave in our class and begin to negotiate and solve problems.

 

Communication and Language:

We will be learning to maintain concentration, listen and respond to ideas shared by others, sit quietly and act appropriately during activities, understand and respond to complex two step instructions, follow a story without pictures or prompts and use new language in our play.

 

Physical Development:

We will be learning to hold a pencil correctly and use it to form recognisable letters, handle tools, objects, construction and materials safely and with increasing control, understand how to be fit and healthy and the need for safety when tackling new challenges.

 

Literacy:

We will be learning to read words and sentences by blending the sounds and recognising and remembering our tricky words, and write sentences using our phonics to segment each word and remembering finger spaces between words.

 

Mathematics - Number:

We will be learning to recognise, order and count objects up to 20, give the number that is one more or one less than a number up to 20, add two numbers together and subtract one number from another.

 

Mathematics – Shape, Space and Measure:

We will be learning to use the mathematical language to name and describe 3D shapes, order two or three items according to their length or weight and use everyday language related to money and time.

 

Understanding the World: 

We will be learning to talk about past and present events in our lives, understand that there are differences and similarities between people, cultures and communities, use technology to complete age-appropriate tasks and discuss the natural world and ask questions about our environment.

 

Expressive Arts and Design:

We will be learning to experiment with sounds, play cooperatively in a group to act out a story, construct with a purpose, using a variety of resources, adapt and change our work where necessary, independently select tools and techniques needs to shape, assemble and join materials and use tools and techniques confidently and correctly.

 

Outdoor learning is a big part of FS2.  Please make sure that your child has a jumper, wellies and a warm, waterproof coat in school every day.

 

Please ensure that your child is heard reading at least three times a week.
