At St Maria Goretti Catholic Academy all the children have their very own learning log. Children are encouraged to use their learning logs at home to record home learning about their current driver question in Geography, History and Science, class texts or religious education focus. The Children are able to select how they would like to record and display their learning. This can be done in many ways such as building models, carrying out research, drawing and painting pictures, creating their own stories and many other ways. Each year group has a home learning display where the children’s work is displayed for other to see. Time is also allocated for children to share their home learning with their class. Home learning through the learning logs is celebrated weekly during the schools celebration assemblies.
Learning logs are designed to encourage the children of St Maria Goretti Catholic Academy to be independent lifelong learns. To use their own knowledge and creativity to further their learning and develop a love of learning both in school and at home. They also allow parents to be involved in their child’s education and share their own knowledge and experiences with their children.
